Join the Indian Navy SSR as a Medical Assistant – Applications Open for 2025!


The Indian Navy invites online applications from unmarried male candidates for enrolment as Sailors in the Medical Branch for Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR-Medical) in the 02/2025 and 02/2026 batches. Here’s everything you need to know about eligibility, selection process, and application details.

Eligibility Conditions:Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant

  1. Educational Qualification:

    • Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) from a recognized board with 50% aggregate marks and a minimum of 40% in each subject.
    • Candidates appearing for the 2024-25 Class 12 Board Exams may also apply.

  2. Age Criteria:

    • SSR (MED) 02/2025 Batch: Born between 01 Sep 2004 – 29 Feb 2008 (inclusive).
    • SSR (MED) 02/2026 Batch: Born between 01 Jul 2005 – 31 Dec 2008 (inclusive).
    • Candidates born between 01 Sep 2004 – 31 Dec 2008 are eligible for INET 2025.

Pay and Perquisites:Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant

  • Stipend during training: ₹14,600 per month.
  • Post-training pay: Level 3 of Defence Pay Matrix ₹21,700 – ₹69,100, plus MSP of ₹5,200/month and DA.
  • Promotion up to Master Chief Petty Officer-I: Level 8 of Defence Pay Matrix ₹47,600 – ₹1,51,100.
  • Additional Benefits: Free books, food, accommodation, medical facilities, housing benefits, leave travel concessions, pension, gratuity, and insurance cover of ₹75 lakhs.

Selection Process:Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant

Stage I – INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test)

  • Exam Format:
    • 100 multiple-choice questions (English, Science, Biology, and General Awareness).
    • 1-hour duration.
    • Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer.
  • Tentative Timeline:
    • Application Window: 29 Mar – 10 Apr 2025
    • Correction Window: 14 – 16 Apr 2025
    • INET Exam: May 2025
    • Result Declaration: May 2025
    • Stage II (for SSR 02/2025): Jul 2025 | Induction: Sep 2025
    • Stage II (for SSR 02/2026): May 2026 | Induction: Jul 2026

Stage II – Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Written Exam & Medical Examination

  1. Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

    • 1.6 km run in 6 min 30 sec
    • 20 squats, 15 push-ups, 15 bent-knee sit-ups
    • Proficiency in sports/swimming is desirable.

  2. Written Exam:

    • 100 multiple-choice questions from English, Science, Biology, and General Awareness.
    • Duration: 1 hour.
    • Candidates must pass in each section and aggregate.

  3. Recruitment Medical Exam:

    • Conducted by authorized military doctors.
    • Minimum Height: 157 cm.
    • Vision: Uncorrected 6/12, corrected 6/6.
    • Tattoos: Only on the inner forearms or back of the hand.

Final Selection & Enrolment:Indian Navy SSR Medical Assistant

  • Merit List prepared state-wise.
  • Pre-Enrolment Medicals at INS Chilka.
  • Training Commencement: Sep 2025 (for 02/2025 batch) & Jul 2026 (for 02/2026 batch).
  • Initial Engagement: 20 years.

  • Exam Fee: ₹550 + 18% GST (online payment only).
  • Documents Required:
    • Recent passport-size photo with name & date on a black slate.
    • 10+2 Marksheet.
    • Domicile Certificate.
    • NCC/Sponsor Certificates (if applicable).
  • Correction Window: Available for 3 days post-application closing.
